Information Meeting on the Stewart Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant - Updated

08/22/2008 - The City of Frisco and North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) held a meeting with the Stewart Creek Estates HOA to provide information about the proposed expansion of the Stewart Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant on Thursday, August 21 beginning at 7 pm at Bledsoe Elementary School at 1900 Timber Ridge Drive in Frisco. The agenda included a presentation on the history of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and proposed expansion.

The permitting process for the expansion of the Stewart Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant will continue according to officials representing the City of Frisco and North Texas Municipal Water District. The informational meeting for Stewart Creek Estates HOA held at Bledsoe Elementary School on August 21st, 2008 drew fewer than a dozen homeowners from the area. No homeowners attended the meeting held for Heritage Green HOA. NTMWD said that additional odor controls will be implemented immediately, after an independent study was made in September 2007. The City of Frisco fully concurs that the additional improvements should be made. The permitting process should result in starting the expansion in 2012 or 2013 with 18 months needed to complete the expansion. The plant will be expanded on the east side of the present location. A lift station will be constructed in the near future to help bring the system in line with the current capacity level, which has operated above the capacity level for a number of months now. The facility will be improved to match the most recently built facility at Panther Creek, including the most recent odor control technologies. Also, the Stewart Creek facility will be visually protected with the same type of berm and landscaping that already exists.

RESIDENTS ARE REMINDED TO FOLLOW 'TIME OF DAY' WATER RESTRICTIONS (July 25, 2008)

The City of Frisco reminds residents to follow 'time of day' water restrictions, adding watering efficiently can help preserve your landscaping during days of triple digit temperatures. The City of Frisco Water Conservation Plan restrictions have been effective daily since June 1 and prohibit:

  • No outdoor watering between the hours of 5 a.m. and 8 a.m., and between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
  • No daily outdoor watering allowed during rainfall.
  • No excessive watering that allows water runoff to paved areas or other water waste.
Summer watering restrictions continue through September 30. "Given the 100 degree plus temperatures, we've seen an increase in the number of people violating our 'time of day' restrictions," said Gary Hartwell, Director of Public Works. Earlier this week, the City of Frisco identified approximately 100 water violations within a 24 hour period. In those cases, about two thirds of the violations involved homeowners watering during the wrong time of day. "If everyone helps us out and follows the current rules, we hope to avoid the need to move into more restrictive watering measures, which will limit watering to specific days of the week based on address," added Hartwell. "If we work together, we can avoid the need to issue citations." The city can also help you determine if your sprinkler system is working effectively. Schedule a free irrigation check-up by calling Mike Barth at 972-292-5844, or contact the city's water education coordinator, Melody Emadiazar, at 972-292-5814 for more information about Frisco's Waterwise program.

Volunteers Needed for Frisco Citizens on Patrol
The Frisco Citizens on Patrol Program is now accepting applications. Please help us to spread the word. Anyone needing more information or an application can go to Frisco Citizens on Patrol.

Frisco Citizens On Patrol (COPs) is a non-profit organization registered together with Frisco Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association and Frisco Neighborhood Watch under the umbrella name of Frisco Community Services Organization together forming a 501(3)c Non-Profit organization.

You may have seen us in shopping centers, at large city events, or possibly cruising through your neighborhood in the wee hours of the morning. You may not have recognized us then, however I hope you will get to know us a little better by taking a look at our web site.

Members utilize deployment of high visibility patrols throughout the city, acting as eyes and ears for the police department. Our visible presence is an effective deterrent to criminal activity. Also through continual training provided by the Frisco police department members become skilled observers who quickly recognize circumstances which require the attention of a police officer.

Thanks to the support of the City Of Frisco and the Frisco Police Department, COPs has become an effective enhancement to the concept of community policing within our city. Our members are highly active within the organization and derive a great deal of satisfaction from our accomplishments.

If you would like to learn more about us, please take a moment to look at the information contained on this site, and (if you happen to reside in Frisco) watch for our patrol vehicles on a street near you.

5/7/2008 - The City staff has approved the contractor for the Capital Improvement Project and gave them the contracts to sign. As of last night, the City was expecting that the contracts would be signed and delivered to the City today or tomorrow. This will allow the Parks and Recreation Board to put this item on the agenda for the next council meeting (May 20, 2008) for approval.

4/11/2008 - The Parks and Recreation Board approved the Capital Improvement Projects at their regular meeting held April 10, 2008. This includes the Beavers Bend Park Extension project that comprises of pond improvement, hiking and bike trail extension and playground equipment at a construction cost of $965,000.00. The contract is tentatively scheduled to be presented to the City Council for approval and awarding of the contract at the May 20, 2008 meeting. City staff will review the company submitting the bid to make sure that they are satisfied that the company can perform the work. City staff does not have any reason to believe that they can not perform the work. It’s my understanding that the project should be able to begin in June 2008. Walking Trail Playground

Spring Cleaning It's time for a Spring Cleanup. Our neighborhood has reached an age now that the properties need some extra care. The exteriors need some paint, front doors refinished, dead trees removed with new 3” trees planted and in some cases, fencing replaced. General clean-up is always required but more extensive home repair is needed in some cases. Avoid a letter from the management company. Please take care of your property. Your neighbors will appreciate it very much!
